Bishopthorpe Local History Group was formed in as a result of the many activities prompted in the village by the Millennium.

Inhaving gained funding through the Lottery, we published a successful book, Bishopthorpe, Reaping the Past. Bishopthorpe is a village and civil parish three miles south of York in the City of York unitary authority and ceremonial county of North Yorkshire, England.

Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Bishopthorpe is close to the River Ouse, and has a population of 3, increasing to 3, at the Census. Between and it was part of the Selby grid reference: SE Parish Council Meetings. Parish Council meetings are normally held in the Village Hall on the fourth Tuesday of each month.

Villagers are welcome to put questions to the council between and at the start of each meeting.
